How can I test and configure my WebCam Instant with Skype?

If you want to test that your WebCam Instant is working with Skype, please do the folowing:

  1. Launch the Skype application and in Skype click on Tools>Options>Video
  2. [Click on image to enlarge]

  3. In the video dialog box, select your webcam and click on "Test webCam" and you will now see webcam video provided your webCam is plugged in and functioning properly.
  4. There are also a number of other options on the left hand side including privacy option where you can set options for who calls and chats with you.

Recommended system requirements for Skype video calls.

  • 1Ghz CPU.
  • 512MB RAM.
  • Video card with at least 16MB of memory.
  • Latest version of DirectX installed.
  • 512/256kbit (down/up) connection.

Note: Video and call quality may vary greatly in environments with conditions below those recommendations. Please be sure, that your webCam is connected and not in use of another program.
